Six players have had the honor of getting their jersey number retired by the Nets franchise, which has been in existence since 1967. The organization was originally called the New Jersey Americans, but they switched to the New York Nets and New Jersey Nets before settling on the Brooklyn Nets name.

Now, let's take a look at the players who have been forever etched in franchise history.

No. 3 Drazen Petrovic

Indiana Pacers Hall of Famer Reggie Miller once said Drazen Petrovic was the best shooter in the world. The late great sharpshooter and playmaker averaged 20.8 points and 1.3 steals in 195 games with the Nets while shooting 43.7 percent from beyond the arc.

The franchise retired Petrovic's No. 3 jersey posthumously after he tragically passed away in a car accident in June of 1993 in Frankfurt, Germany.

No. 5 Jason Kidd

One of the greatest point guards in NBA history, Jason Kidd put up 14.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 9.1 assists and 1.9 steals in 506 games with New Jersey.

He led the franchise to two straight Finals, but the Nets lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2002 and the San Antonio Spurs in 2003. While he didn't win a title with the team, he still remains one of the best players to ever suit up for the team.

Kidd was named a Hall of Famer in 2018.
