Cleveland Browns coach Hue Jackson is currently coming under fire from every direction. Not only are the Browns operating within the NFL with as many wins as you and I have (and we're not even an NFL team), but the entire franchise has been mocked for its failure to properly execute a trade.

In what is well-documented by now, Cleveland attempted to trade a second- and third-round draft pick to the Cincinnati Bengals for backup AJ McCarron. Then, because Browns, Cleveland failed to send in the paperwork to get the deal finalized.

While I would argue that this is a blessing in disguise, as they would be giving up too much for McCarron, the Browns are going to be asked about this debacle for the remainder of the season. However, if you ask Hue Jackson about it, you are likely to get crickets from this point moving forward.

“Let me first start this off, I know Sashi addressed you guys earlier today so I am going to leave that at that,” Jackson told reporters on Monday. “I am not going to take any questions about anything that happened here last week. You may try; I am not going to answer, I am going to be very honest with you.”

After that, Jackson actually tried to shift — or place some — blame towards the Bengals.

“It is a lot simpler than what has been written truly,” Brown told reporters. “This is just a matter of getting to a deal too late in the process. I think both sides, both Cincinnati and us tried our damnedest to try to get the paperwork in at the last minutes, and we are talking about minutes and seconds before the trade deadline ended. We were on the phone with the NFL at the time to try to make it happen. It did not happen. I do think Cincinnati in earnest tried. I know we did everything humanly possible to get it done. It just didn’t happen. It is truly that simple.”

For what it is worth, he would then go on to say “it isn't that simple” to discuss what happened. So it is simple, but it is not simple.
