The Cleveland Browns have ushered in some major changes to their coaching staff following an abysmal 2019 NFL season. Offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt will be among those tasked with leading a potential resurgence on offense or next year.

There were a number of issues that factored into Cleveland's underwhelming performance on offense last season. According to Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal, Van Pelt says they will be putting an emphasis on improving the offensive line:

Van Pelt's focus is certainly understandable. The Browns generated plenty of hype in recent years with their influx of star power at the skill positions on offense. Unfortunately, it quickly became evident that they had overlooked their needs along the offensive line.

Stabilizing things up front should help pay huge dividends for Cleveland's offense as a whole. Of course, it is safe to assume that quarterback Baker Mayfield will be the primary beneficiary after enduring quite the sophomore slump. His regression under center was magnified by the line' lackluster pass protection and it has now resulted in plenty of doubt regarding his status as a bonafide franchise quarterback.

New head coach Kevin Stefanski was able to install a balanced approach during his time as offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings. He has all the tools in place to do the same for the Browns with players like running back Nick Chubb to go along with a pair of Pro bowl wideouts in Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry.

The onus will ultimately fall on the offensive line to get up to speed.
