The NFL Rookie of the Year award is a two-man race between Baker Mayfield and Saquon Barkley and evidently, the two have a friendly bet on who will win.

In an interview with Cleveland.com, Barkley had nothing but praise for Mayfield and it seems the two are actually pretty good friends. Barkley also revealed that whatever guy comes in second in the voting has to buy the winner a chain of his choice.

“It’s for a chain,’’ Barkley said. “The loser’s got to get someone else a chain. We get to pick the chain and we get to have fun with it because obviously everyone’s talking about who’s going to win, and at the end of the day we’d love to see each other win, but we’d also love to see ourselves win too, but we made a little bet with it just to show how friendly we are that it’s bigger than just the award.’’

On Thursday Morning it was announced that Barkley had won the Pepsi Rookie of the Year award, which is the award voted on by the fans. On Saturday night the Rookie of the Year will be handed out and that is one the bet is riding upon.

It seems to be a neck and neck race with Mayfield maybe having a bit of a lead because of the success the team had but it really is a toss-up. Whichever guy wins will get a trophy from the NFL, and a chain courtesy of the loser to hold onto as a remembrance of a special rookie season.
