Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield had some questionable baggage while he was college which served as red flags. One of the most high-profile of which was his arrest in Arkansas in 2017 after he ran from police who wanted to question him about a fight that occurred earlier that night. He was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.

In an appearance on FS1’s ‘The Herd’ with Colin Cowherd (per TMZ), Mayfield was made to relive that embarrassing incident and was asked to explain himself. The incoming Browns rookie admits it’s a moment he’d like to get back.

“There's so much regret about that,” Mayfield said.

Mayfield made it clear that he wasn’t in trouble for anything when the police came over to talk to him, but he because of his state of mind, he thought he was in trouble and decided to run away. The police proceeded to tackle him as the video went viral.

Mayfield confesses that the whole experience was “very eye-opening” and that it was a “rude awakening to responsibility and accountability.” He also says he's learned his lesson and has become a better person as a result.

It was incidents like that which fueled the Mayfield-Johnny Manziel comparisons which dogged Mayfield throughout much of the pre-draft process. Lucikly for Mayfield, that high-profile indiscretion didn’t hinder the Browns from taking him No. 1 overall in this year’s draft.

Cleveland will now be hoping Mayfield truly has learned his lesson after that past misstep and that he will conduct himself more like the franchise quarterback he's expected to be in the future.
