The Cleveland Browns gave Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs a serious run for their money in Week 1 in a thrilling 33-29 loss. But, Baker Mayfield and Co. did have the lead heading into halftime and proceeded to allow the Chiefs to get back into the game.

The Browns QB recently spoke on Sunday's performance and sent a stern message to his teammates. Via 92.3 The Fan:

I think we should beat ourselves up about it because we feel like we should have won that game, but there’s 16 more,” Mayfield said. “This one should sting and you need to learn from it because we had that game and we gotta close it out. So I think there’s a fine line of walking that and my message to them was, you know what? We’re going to be really good if we just do our jobs and continue to be efficient and move the chains and help out our defense by staying on the field.

The Browns have lots of positives to take away from the game, but there were also some clear mistakes. Mayfield threw for a costly interception late in the game, while Nick Chubb had a detrimental fumble, despite rushing for two TDs.

The Chiefs were always going to be an extremely tough opponent for Cleveland, but they did put up quite the fight. Like Mayfield said though, it's just Week 1. There's a lot of games to go where the Browns will be looking to tighten it up on both sides of the ball.
