Every year there are analysts who harp on the lack of chemistry between quarterbacks and receivers who are playing together for the first time. For the most part, this narrative is overblown and unimportant. Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield agrees as he doesn't see his lack of reps with Odell Beckham Jr. as a problem.

Mayfield was dismissive of the problem when speaking with the Cleveland Plain Dealer, via Pro Football Talk.

“I didn’t take a rep with Jarvis [Landry] in preseason last year, so it’s probably overblown, I think he’s excited to get back to football. He’s feeling healthy and ready to go. I’d say just talking to him and knowing who he is, he’s very excited to get on the field with a fresh start. He’s ready to do it for himself.” Mayfield said.

Browns fans everywhere are hoping that the former number one overall pick is correct.

General manager John Dorsey traded for Beckham this offseason, giving up safety Jabrill Peppers and the 17th overall pick in the deal with the New York Giants. The former Giants receiver is widely regarded as one of the best pass-catchers in the league. Beckham and fellow receivers Jarvis Landry and Rashard Higgins seem like one of the best-receiving trios in the NFL.

With those three, and running back Nick Chubb, Mayfield has more than enough weapons at his disposal. The Cleveland defense has looked nasty throughout the preseason, and the offense has everything it needs. The Browns could very possibly live up to all the offseason hype.
