The Cleveland Browns showed plenty of promise in the 2018 NFL season thanks to quarterback Baker Mayfield. It appears he is already looking forward to squaring off against New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady next year.

The Browns are scheduled to meet with the Patriots at some point in the 2019 NFL season. According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Mayfield is excited for the opportunity to play against Brady:

“Yeah, we have them on the schedule,” he said. “That will be awesome, to play against somebody that's been playing for so long at such a consistent level. That's one of those challenges that you try and rise up to each week, and that will be fun.”

Mayfield's comments are certainly understandable. The rookie had high praise for Brady and all that he has accomplished in recent years. The prospect of going up against the greatest quarterback of all time is more than enough reason for Mayfield to be excited.

It is no secret that Cleveland made some tremendous strides in the 2018 campaign. Their modest success was sparked by the emergence of Mayfield under center. The former No.1 overall pick threw for 3,725 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. Although he may have fallen short of earning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, he was able to provide the kind of spark the Browns needed under center moving forward.

Mayfield admits the snub may have added to the chip that is already on his shoulder. Perhaps a win over Brady and the reigning Super Bowl champs could be just what the Browns need to prove themselves as playoff contenders.
