The 2019 NFL season got off to an abysmal start for quarterback Baker Mayfield of the Cleveland Browns. Things seemingly took a turn for the worst after he was seen with wrapping tape on his throwing hand after the game.

Mayfield reportedly had x-rays done following the embarrassing 30-point loss to the Tennessee Titans. According to Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beach Journal, he was able to practice with the wrap on his hand:

Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield practiced Tuesday and threw the ball well without a wrap or any other type of protection on his right hand.

This is certainly an encouraging update for the Browns. The prospect of Mayfield having to deal with any sort of injury this early in the year would hardly have been ideal. It appears he will be able to move forward at full health against the New York Jets in Week 2.

Cleveland generated plenty of hype with their recent influx of star power. Unfortunately, they fell vastly short of expectations in the season opener. Not only were they incapable of finding their rhythm on offense but the defense looked rather porous a Titans' group that did not boast very much firepower.

Mayfield was certainly unable to do his part after completing 25-of-38 passes for 285 yards, a touchdown, and three interceptions. Of course, he did not have much help from the offensive line, and it became evident that the pressure had started to get to him. Fortunately, he will have extra time to both make adjustments and nurse his hand this week with the Browns taking on the Jets on Monday night.
