The Gerald McCoy sweepstakes are still alive and well with the defensive tackle undecided on where he wants to play in 2019. The Cleveland Browns are one of the teams interested and Baker Mayfield is trying to ensure that they land him.

Recently, Mayfield was holding a youth camp and was asked about McCoy and if he was recruiting him. This is what he had to say to that:

“I have been, but we’re going to stick to just camp questions,’’ Mayfield said after coaching and playing football with more than 500 kids at Mayfield High School.

The Browns quarterback is becoming someone who players want to play with. He's helped shift the culture to a loose but confident environment in Cleveland. McCoy is an Oklahoma Sooner alumni like Mayfield but it's doubtful that means much.

The veteran defensive tackle has his sights set on a team who has put themselves in a position to contend in 2019. As of now, the three teams in the running are the Browns, Baltimore Ravens, and Carolina Panthers.

According to reports, McCoy is eager to make his decision after the weekend is completed. Undoubtedly, Mayfield is continuing to do the most he can to help his team land the former All-Pro defensive tackle.

The Browns have already had a phenomenal offseason by acquiring Olivier Vernon, Sheldon Richardson, and Odell Beckham Jr. Adding a player like McCoy would just put the icing on top of the cake of a job well done by John Dorsey and the front office.
