The Cleveland Browns have had a very active offseason, and after shocking the world and showing signs of improvement in 2018, the Browns are suddenly one of the trendiest picks to make the playoffs and even compete for a Super Bowl title in the near future.

One reason for that is their solid running game, led by second-year player Nick Chubb. The young back is the de facto leader of the running back group now, and according to quarterback Baker Mayfield, looks very dangerous.

Speaking to the media after one of the Browns OTAs (via CantonRep), Mayfield described Chubb as “phenomenally talented,” and despite his quiet demeanor, the team thinks he’s ready to break out.

After being drafted with the 35th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Chubb quickly established himself as one of the main contributors on a surging Browns team. Chubb came four yards shy from reaching 1,000 rushing yards in his rookie season, but his 996 yards also came with 5.2 yards per carry, a stellar number for any running back.

As the Browns look to improve on their surprising 7-8-1 finish last year, they’ll be doing so with a ton of talent on their offense. Led by standout quarterback Baker Mayfield, the Browns also have Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, Odell Beckham Jr., and Jarvis Landry ready to produce for the team.

With a defense that’s also stacked with talent, the Browns have suddenly become one of the most talented teams in the league. After years of futility and terrible play, the Browns are finally in a position to turn their franchise around, and look to have capitalized on it in every way possible.

The only question is how they’ll perform in 2019.
