Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield was asked about coach Freddie Kitchens future with the team and he didn't really go out of his way to try and lobby support his coach.

Mayfield said it wasn't his decision to make and he was going to attack this offseason the same way no matter who was running the game.

“That's not my decision to make, so whatever happens, happens moving forward,” Mayfield said via Nick Shook of NFL.com. “I know how I'm going to handle it: Getting whatever receiving corps and tight ends we have together in the offseason and making sure we're on the same page so we hit the ground running in the spring — kind of like I hit on earlier in the week — to where there's no room to be made up come training camp.”

One of the big reasons that Kitchens got the job was his work last season with the Mayfield. Mayfield hasn't taken the step forward expected out of a second-year quarterback and now Kitchen's seat is hot. Even with the struggles, Mayfield is trying to look at the positives, there is a lot of room for improvement.

“It leaves us a lot of room to work and improve,” Mayfield said. “That's just the bottom line. There's a lot of room for improvement and progress to be made, so that's how we have to handle it.”

If Kitchens does get another year in charge, Mayfield is going to need to take major steps forward, or it would be hard to imagine the team would keep him around any longer.
