The Cleveland Browns finally edged out a win for the first time in well over a year that saw rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield lead the charge to erase a 14-point second half deficit.

This has quickly pushed the momentum forward toward Mayfield making a strong push to earning the starting job. In fact, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com is reporting that head coach Hue Jackson has already made that decision and will inform both quarterbacks on Monday that this the direction the team will head.

Browns coach Hue Jackson won't name Baker Mayfield his starter until Monday so he can tell Mayfield and Tyrod Taylor first.

But it's no secret Mayfield will be his choice.

This decision doesn't come as much of a surprise given how the Browns performed with Mayfield on the field after Tyrod Taylor went down with a concussion. He had great command of the offense from that point on putting on an efficient performance completing 17-of-21 passes for 201 yards while orchestrating four scoring drives that included leading the team down the field late in the fourth quarter that was capped off by a go-ahead one-yard touchdown run by running back Carlos Hyde, who had 23 carries for 96 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

There was a different energy around the team with their key playmakers stepping up with Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry being a major factor with eight catches for 108 receiving yards and also converted a two-point attempt on a pass to Mayfield. Aside from dodging a bullet on the pass that was nearly intercepted in the end zone, he had shown command of the offense that Taylor had struggled to display prior to his injury.

The choice to roll with Mayfield should solidify him as the starter for the rest of the season barring an injury as the team will ride through his growing pains along the way. More importantly, it has given him the chance to prove whether he can be the franchise quarterback that the team and fan base has long been waiting to have in Cleveland.
