The Cleveland Browns averted disaster on Sunday night after escaping the lowly Detroit Lions with an ugly win, 13-10.

The Lions were poised to take their first win of the season, but Browns running back Nick Chubb spoiled the party. Returning from a one-game absence due to COVID-19 protocols, he caught a critical touchdown pass, rushed for 130 yards, and helped run out the clock to give the Browns the victory and improve to 6-5.

But while the win should be a sigh of relief, the wife of Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield wasn't too happy. In a now-deleted Instagram Story, Emily Mayfield defended her husband from all the recent criticisms. Quite interestingly, it also appeared that she took a swipe at the Browns.

“No one better say anything bad about Baker Mayfield after this game. I don't think I have seen toughness like this in a while. Maybe the rest of the team should take the hint and get tougher.”

The plot thickens?

Mayfield, who's dealing with shoulder, foot, and knee injuries struggled against the Lions. He only finished with 15-of-29 for 176 yards and had two interceptions. His pass to Chubb, however, proved to be the winning play, as the Browns salvaged the win.

According to reports, Mayfield refused to talk to reporters after the game and also went straight to their locker room when the game ended. With his wife's comment, something's definitely amiss with the star QB and the Browns.
