Star quarterback Baker Mayfield led the Cleveland Browns in a breakthrough campaign last season, steering the erstwhile doormat squad to the NFL Playoffs for the first time since 2002.

For perspective, the last time the Browns made it to the postseason, Mayfield was only seven years. So it's only logical for him to get a hefty extension, right? But apparently, that's not what's on his mind right now, despite his contemporary Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills getting paid with a six-year, $258 million deal.

While Mayfield acknowledged Allen's fortune, he said he's more focused on getting more wins for the Browns, who he also led to their first win in the NFL Playoffs since 1992 (via Bleacher Report).

“I'm worried about winning. I think the rest will take care of itself. It's good for the quarterback position overall. I'd be lying if we said otherwise, but I'm worried about winning right now. I don't know the timeline on it. We haven't talked about it because I'm worried about winning this season.”

Of course, some conspiracy theorists will view Mayfield's comments as a subtle jab to Allen. After all, some consider them as rivals since they both came from the 2018 draft class. But as the former no. 1 overall pick said, Allen getting the bag should only bode well for them signal-callers, especially in this age of athlete empowerment. Mayfield will get his due.

It's quite clear that Baker Mayfield is all-in on the Browns, and with star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. providing help, the team could go even further this season.
