Baker Mayfield gave Cleveland Browns fans a much-needed boost of positivity Wednesday afternoon. The quarterback posted a video on his Twitter account following his shoulder surgery and was nothing short of optimistic beginning the recovery process.

“Surgery went great, it was a complete success,” Mayfield began. This is great news for Browns fans, who watched Mayfield struggle all season with a torn labrum in his non-dominant arm. He first suffered the injury in Week 2 and it got even worse in Week 6. Mayfield opted out of their virtually meaningless Week 18 game to get a head start on his recovery process for next season.

“This is one of those steps to get back to my true self.” The Browns quarterback acknowledged that the past year “hasn't been very easy” for him or his family. He credited the medical team working with him and thanked everyone who reached out and wished him well.

Many Browns fans are unsure of Mayfield as Cleveland's starting quarterback next year, but he is determined to be that guy. He knows that there is a lot of work to do for him to be back to his full potential for next season. Speaking about his recovery, Mayfield said, “It's not gonna be an easy one, but it's gonna be one that I'm going to remember.”

“This is not the end of my story…it's one of those challenges and adversity that I'm going to try to take advantage of and make me a better person.” Mayfield ended his touching video message on a more motivational note, saying “Let's go get it.”
