Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield has a message for 2021 NFL draft prospect Justin Fields: stay the course.
Mayfield lauded the Ohio State quarterback for his ability to overcome adversity in a spot for NFL Network ahead of Thursday's draft. He concluded by saying he “can't wait” to see where Fields' NFL journey takes him.

Mayfield and Fields actually share somewhat similar career paths.
Both quarterbacks transferred after their freshman seasons. Mayfield began his collegiate career at Texas Tech before making the switch to Oklahoma. Fields initially committed to Georgia, but made the move to Ohio State after losing the quarterback competition to Jake Fromm. But those minor bumps in the road did not stop either guy from having success.
Mayfield became a national sensation at Oklahoma and was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft. Similarly, Fields became one of the top stars in the country at Ohio State and is regarded as one of the top quarterback prospects in this year's class.
Fields' adversity goes beyond the gridiron. He recently revealed to teams he is managing epilepsy, though it has not affected him on the field and he is expected to outgrow the condition.
Unlike Baker Mayfield, the Buckeyes star is unlikely to be the No. 1 pick. He probably won't be the choice at No. 2 or No. 3, either. But he could go just about anywhere after the first three picks.
Regardless of which team ends up with Fields, said team will be getting a dynamic and resilient talent who can make plays with his arm and his legs. Mayfield cannot wait to see what Fields brings to the NFL.
