The Cleveland Browns will be making history in Week 12 of the 2020 NFL season as chief of staff Callie Brownson will be the first woman to coach an NFL position group in a regular-season game in league history, as per ESPN‘s Adam Schefter. She will be taking over in lieu of tight end coach Drew Petzing who is attending to his wife giving birth to their first child.

The Virginia native first made an appearance in the league as a scouting intern for the New York Jets back in 2017. She went back to the NCAA and served as the offensive quality control coach for a Division I team in Dartmouth from 2018 to 2019.

She made it back to the NFL as a full-time coaching intern with the Buffalo Bills in 2019. Her name was eventually called by the newly-appointed Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski to be the new Chief of Staff for the team prior to the start of the 2020 NFL season.

On the field, the Browns remain to be in the thick of the playoff race with a 7-3 record to nab second place in the loaded AFC North division. They are riding a two-game winning streak won at the expense of the Houston Texans and the Philadelphia Eagles in Weeks 10 and 11, respectively.

The Cleveland-based squad will be facing another lowly team in the listless Jacksonville Jaguars who currently own a nine-game losing skid heading to Week 12 proceedings.

A victory in Northeast Florida could eventually improve the Browns' chances of snagging a better position as they aim to book a seat in the 2020 NFL Playoffs for the first time in 17 years.
