On Wednesday, Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that running back Kareem Hunt will not play in Week 11 as they take on the winless Detroit Lions.

Yahoo Sports' Josh Alper reported that Stefanski mentioned Kareem Hunt is making progress in his recovery but is not ready to play for the Browns this week. This will be the 5th straight game Hunt has missed due to a calf strain.

For insight on the Browns' Week 11 matchup against the Lions, listen below:

Hunt was lighting the NFL on fire, alongside teammate Nick Chubb, as the clear cut best tandem running backs in the league. Prior to Hunt's Week 6 injury vs Arizona, Hunt had four rushing touchdowns, 50 plus yards rushing in each game and 17 catches for 130 yards. As a complementary running back, Cleveland could not possibly ask for more.

The initial reports on Hunt's injury had him missing 4-6 weeks. We are still within that time table. However, as recently as last week, there was some optimism within the organization that Hunt might have been able to return in Week 11. That clearly is not coming to fruition.

With a game on tap vs. the dreaded Detroit Lions, it makes sense for Hunt to take his time with the recovery. The Browns are expected to activate Nick Chubb from the reserve/COVID-19 list. While he was out last week, D'Ernest Johnson carried the rock for the Browns.

In two starts this season for Johnson, he has exploded for over 300 yards from scrimmage, including 157 vs New England this past week. The Browns offensive line is obviously one of the best in the league. It appears anyone they put back there can run through holes.

Expect an update on Hunt's status early next week as the Browns hope to make a push for the postseason and a deep run within it.
