The Cleveland Browns have designated tight end David Njoku to return from injured reserve and will return to practice today according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

Njoku suffered a wrist injury the team's Week 2 game against the New York Jets and was placed on injured reserve on September 20th.

With Njoku returning to practice on Wednesday and the team will have 21 days to decide if they want to activate Njoku to the active roster, or keep him on the injured reserve for the rest of the season.

Losing Njoku has been a big loss for the Browns, and has played some part in the Browns' struggles. Njoku is in his third year in the league and has quickly become one of the better tight ends in the league.

He has racked up 92 catches for 1,062 yards and nine touchdowns in his career. Before going down with an injury, Njoku caught four passes for 37 yards and a touchdown.

Without Njoku, the Browns have had issues finding a tight end they can count on, especially in the pass game. Ricky Seals-Jones has been the Browns best tight end but the stats haven't been all that impressive catching nine passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns.

Making the playoffs for the Browns is still mathematically possible but they have an uphill climb. The Browns currently sit with a 4-6 record and probably can afford only one loss for the rest of the season if he want any chance of sneaking in. Getting Njoku back could be a big boost for that happening.
