In the weeks leading into the 2018 NFL Draft, there has been a growing notion that the Cleveland Browns are leaning toward taking Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen with the first overall pick. The organization has yet to acknowledge that possibility being what will come to fruition in just a few days time.

However, the fact that the conversation has remained open-ended speaks to how strongly Allen is in the discussion next to the long-presumed top overall pick USC's Sam Darnold. According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, general manager John Dorsey may have subtly hinted at the former Wyoming product being the choice that the team is eyeing after his comments concerning hand size.

“You all laugh at me when I say it, but I think hand size is important,” he said during his predraft press conference Thursday. “With that being said, hand size in November and December, when it's snowing, raining, it's getting muddy. We all know the elements in Cleveland are going to play a role.”

Allen currently has the upper hand against each of the other top players at the position as his hand measures 10 1/8, which made him to the only quarterback in this year's crop to measure above 10 inches at the combine last month. Meanwhile, Darnold's measured at 9 3/8, which may have contributed to his 21 fumbles over his 24 career starts during his collegiate career at USC.

It is also interesting to point out that Dorsey has a high importance on this being a factor in determining which player the franchise will select. The Browns are getting to a quite thorough level in the decision process to make the right choice at the pick as the quarterback the team takes could change the outlook of the franchise for the long haul.

With there still being a few more days until the draft, the Browns will likely use utilize all the remaining time to make a sound decision that they feel completely comfortable choosing to do. In the meantime, it is anybody's guess which direction the franchise will head with the first overall pick.
