The Cleveland Browns have made a concerted effort over the last several weeks to refigure their front office with new personnel. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, their latest addition is former Green Bay Packers executive Eliot Wolf, who will serve as the assistant general manager to John Dorsey.

Wolf served as the Packers' director of football operations for the last two years. He chose to take the position with the Browns over offers from the Packers and Oakland Raiders for similar positions. It was expected that he was going to meet with Oakland to work alongside general Reggie McKenzie and new head coach Jon Gruden.

Wolf was one of the four candidates interviewing for the Packers' vacant general manager position that eventually saw Brian Gutekunst hired earlier this week. According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, Gutekunst immediately offered a deal to keep Wolf on board as his “right-hand man.” However, there was a sense that he would depart from the organization after not getting the general manager position.

He is the son of Hall of Fame general manager Ron Wolf, who held the position for Green Bay for 10 seasons, building the team that won Super Bowl XXXI. The 35-year-old originally joined the Packers as a pro personnel assistant back in 2004, working his way up through the organization with positions such as assistant director of pro personnel and director of player personnel.

Wolf now has the difficult task of trying to help turn around the Browns after another pitiful season that saw them become just the second team to finish with an 0-16 record. Cleveland has struggled to find any sort of consistent success over the last two decades, with just one playoff appearance since the 1999 campaign and a current 15-year playoff drought. That is now the longest postseason drought in the league, as the Buffalo Bills broke their streak this season.
