The Cleveland Browns have been on the wrong side of a few jokes since the trade deadline, but there is reason for (relative) optimism. The franchise recently learned that talented, yet troubled, receiver Josh Gordon will be returning from suspension.

According to reports, the team is hoping to have him back by Week 13 of the National Football League season.

If the report is true, and Josh Gordon is good to go for Week 13, that would result in him returning to the field on December 2, against the Los Angeles Chargers.

For those locking context, Gordon, still only 26, has not played in a game since Dec. 21, 2014. He had been suspended indefinitely since September 2016, without pay, for multiple violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy. He has missed a total of 56 games.

While Gordon's return won't help the Browns this season, the franchise being able to see what juice he still has left can be important for how the team attempts to rebuild moving forward. Furthermore, having Gordon around the team and in the locker room can give Cleveland a decent idea if the receiver will be able to operate within the NFL without violating any more of its rules.

Gordon is a wickedly talented receiver. At one point during his career, prior to the constant suspensions, he was on pace to be one of the best in the league. Still having youth on his side, here is to hoping he figures it out and can have a solid career from this point forward.
