Players have had to take unprecedented action amid the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in order to prepare for the 2020 NFL season. Fortunately, the Cleveland Browns are finding ways to build the team's camaraderie while on lockdown.

According to Marla Ridenour of the Beacon Journal, center JC Tretter said the Browns are doing what they can imitate a locker room atmosphere during their Zoom meeting every Thursday:

(On Thursdays) special teams meets and the rest of the guys kind of sit on a Zoom call and just do what you would have done if you were sitting in the locker room,” Tretter said during a Zoom interview Tuesday with local Browns media. “Talk and chat and we’ll go over plays and Baker will run us through different things and we’ll talk through our calls.

Tretter added that the primary objective is simply to help build chemistry on the Browns.

“A lot of that is just a chance to get to know each other and see each other’s personalities. We have a lot of new additions. What are their families like, how are they doing, where are they living, all that stuff is important. We’ve kind of got that built into our program, allowing players to take the lead and go through plays as well as just be guys in the locker room, just virtually.”

It is encouraging to see that the Browns are not letting the restrictions get in the way of their efforts to get on the same page this offseason. The fact that they are still making efforts to build up the chemistry in the locker room is a positive sign that they are focused on a potential resurgence.

The Browns fell vastly short of the hype last season and their struggles seemingly took a negative toll on the team's morale down the stretch. Their tumultuous year led to plenty of speculation regarding a significant change in their personnel, most notably with wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and his underwhelming debut season.

Despite all the significant changes to the coaching staff, expectations remain as high as ever going into the 2020 campaign. Fortunately, there appears to be a newfound sense of optimism that the Browns will finally be able to reach its potential.
