The Cleveland Browns' coaching search began after firing Freddie Kitchens following Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. From division rivals' coaches to retired ones, their quest is far-reaching. Now, they are looking to Western New York for their new head coach: Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, per Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.

Brian Daboll, 44, fits the bill of an offensive mind to help an underperforming attack grow. He's familiar with the Browns, as he acted as their offensive coordinator between 2009 and 2010 before Cleveland fired Eric Mangini and his staff. He led the NFL's 32nd and 29th ranked offense while in Cleveland.

Brian Daboll acted as the offensive coordinator for both the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs for one year each before moving on to the New England Patriots as an offensive assistant. He then went to the coaching ranks. In one year as the Alabama Crimson Tide's co-offensive coordinator, he won the national championship.

Brian Daboll returned to the NFL in 2018 as the Bills' offensive coordinator. Though there were growing pains in his first year, he helped now second-year quarterback Josh Allen grow immensely in 2019. While reaching the playoffs, Daboll's Bills ranked as the NFL's 24th-ranked yardage offense (330.2 per game) and 23rd ranked scoring one (19.6).

Whoever the Browns hire as head coach, be it Brian Daboll or anyone else, they must be a competent offensive mind. Cleveland cannot afford to waste another year of an offensive core that includes Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry, Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt and David Njoku. They must find a way to consistently put-up points.
