The Cleveland Browns are under a new regime after a disappointing 2019 season. Former Minnesota Vikings Offensive Coordinator Kevin Stefanski is the new head coach and Cincinnati Bengals quarterbacks coach was brought on to be the Browns' offensive coordinator.

However, with the offseason now in full force, the Browns have still yet to decide on who will call plays next year.

“I could easily call plays,” Van Pelt said per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk “I work for Kevin and am excited to do whatever role he wants me to do. Right now, I am coordinating and helping set this offense up with some good coaches.”

After working with Andy Dalton and Ryan Finley in Cincinnati last season, Van pelt will work with Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield to tweak his footwork and fundamentals.

“The feet never lie,” Van Pelt said. “It all starts with the feet. Just some of the ways that we will have him drop both from under center and in the gun will change slightly to help him,” Van Pelt said.

As for Stefanski, the 37-year-old helped the Vikings to a top 10 scoring offense in the NFL. Stefanski will bring a West Coast type offense to Cleveland that will feature a zone-blocking scheme and a heavy influx of play action.

Last season, under head coach Freddie Kitchens and Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken, the Browns managed to put up just 20.9 points per game which ranked 22nd in the league.

Considering the Browns had big-name offensive players such as Mayfield, Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr., the team was expected to fair much better on that side of the ball.
