The Cleveland Browns have tendered restricted free-agent wide receiver Rashard Higgins, according to Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Higgins is coming off a 2018 campaign in which he played 13 games and hauled in 39 receptions for 572 yards and four touchdowns.

The 24-year-old, who played collegiate football at Colorado State University, was originally selected by the Browns in the fifth round (172nd pick) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He appeared in all 16 contests during his rookie season, catching just six passes for 77 yards. Then, in 2017, Higgins earned considerably more action, snaring 27 balls for 312 yards and a couple of scores.

The Browns went 7-8-1 this past season, marking their best finish since winning 10 games in 2007. Cleveland got off to a 2-6-1 start before firing Hue Jackson as head coach and replacing him with Gregg Williams.

From that point forward, the Browns went 5-3 and briefly vaulted themselves into playoff contention, which has been unheard of for Cleveland over the better part of the last 15 years.

The Browns have not made the playoffs since the 2002-03 campaign, representing the longest active playoff drought in the NFL. However, with a young, talented quarterback in Baker Mayfield and some very solid supporting pieces around him, Cleveland has a very bright future and may be a playoff contender for years to come.

Since last making the playoffs during the 2002-03 season, the Browns have recorded just one winning campaign.
