The expectations are as high as ever for the Cleveland Browns going into the 2019 NFL season. Fortunately, head coach Freddie Kitchens is confident that quarterback Baker Mayfield is doing what he can to improve before then.

The Browns have generated plenty of hype with their revamped roster this offseason. According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, Kitchens says Mayfield is putting the work in to succeed moving forward:

“Baker works his tail off in everything he does and it’s no different this year than it was last year,” Kitchens said. “I think he’s getting more decisive with his decisions that he’s making, which is a good thing for a quarterback. You want quarterbacks to play as fast as possible and I think he’s getting to that point.”

Mayfield helped lead quite the resurgence down the final stretch of the 2018 campaign. He also set the bar high with his stellar performance after setting the record for most touchdowns thrown in a rookie season with 27. There is no question that he will be expected to take his play to the next level in 2019.

The Browns have managed to provide Mayfield with some serious firepower in recent years. He now boasts one of the NFL's most talented wide receiver duos in Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry. Meanwhile, the emergence of running back Nick Chubb and a bevy of other weapons in the backfield should provide Cleveland with a viable run game to balance out their approach as well. Regardless, the onus will fall and Mayfield and Kitchens to put it all together next season.
