Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is entering the 2019 NFL seasons with high expectations. Regardless, head coach Freddie Kitchens does not want his demeanor to change.

Mayfield's charismatic approach has made him a fan favorite ever since his college days. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Kitchens wants him to continue being himself moving forward.

“I want him to keep being himself,” Kitchens told reporters on Wednesday.

Although he does not want to make any changes to Mayfield's personality, Kitchens still feels some adjustments in his game need to be made.

“It is understanding of protections and coverages,” Kitchens said. “It is a continuous process with the quarterbacks. Baker is no different. There are going to be things that he wants to get better at 15 years from now, and he is going to retire one day and still wish he had gotten better at something. It is a never-ending process, and he is going to continue to get better.”

Kitchens' comments are certainly understandable. Mayfield's strong personality is part of the reason why the Browns took many by surprise when they picked him ahead of a deep quarterback class. It appears they have made the right decision thus far.

Cleveland took a rather cautious approach with his development after making him the No. 1 overall pick in last year's draft. Despite starting his career as a backup, his competitive nature never changed and it was only a matter of time before he was able to put it on full display.

Regardless, expectations are now as high as ever in Cleveland following the significant strides they have made in recent years. Mayfield has been among the notable Browns' players that have embraced their lofty goals moving forward. There is certainly no shortage of talent on their roster and it will be on both him and Kitchens to be able to make the most of it moving forward.
