The Cleveland Browns recently welcomed back wide receiver Josh Gordon following a brief hiatus to get his personal affairs in order. Now the speculation regarding his potential moving forward has started.

Cleveland is hoping he can take on an integral role in their offense this season. However, Hall of Fame wideout Cris Carter said on FS1's ‘First Things First' that he believes Gordon is a generational talent at his position.

“I still think he is a 1,000 yard receiver. He still has a very unique size, speed combination. The highlight season was the 2013 season. He does stuff that we haven't seen a big guy do since Randy Moss. He's bigger than Randy Moss from a size, bulk standpoint. Not necessarily as fast on the deep ball but his route combination, his ability to make the big play. I mean, he runs beautiful routes, catches the ball with his hands. I haven't seen ten wide receivers in the last 20 years that have more talent than Josh Gordon. Not ten,” Carter said.

This is some heavy praise coming from Carter. There is certainly plenty of truth to his comments given all their similarities. However, any time a player is likened to Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss, it is safe to take it with a grain of salt.

Gordon's talent is undeniable. He possesses all the measurables of a prototypical wide receiver which includes a rare blend of size and speed. More importantly, he has shown that his skill set translates seamlessly onto the field. This is the reason why the Browns have bent over backward to help him get reinstated.

Despite all his gifts, relying on Gordon is risky given his track record off the field. Fortunately, the Browns have taken the right precautions by bringing in a bonafide No. 1 wideout in Jarvis Landry. However, if Gordon can stay focused, there is no telling how well it could pay off for Cleveland this season.
