Baker Mayfield is one of the most polarizing players in the NFL, but with the Cleveland Browns at 2-3 and with Mayfield struggling thus far in his second season, most are criticizing his approach rather than lauding it.

But it's not just his personality that has been an issue.

Mayfield has genuinely looked lost through the first five weeks of the 2019 campaign, as he has thrown four touchdowns as opposed to eight interceptions while completing just 55.9 percent of his passes.

Fox Sports analyst and Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter thinks that part of the problem with Mayfield is that he is no longer able to outrun defenders like he did in college and stated that he thinks Mayfield should try to play more like Drew Brees as a result.

Carter makes the Brees comparison because the two quarterbacks are essentially the same size and have similar athletic ability, but Brees actually stays in the pocket and tries to find his receivers rather than scrambling and trying to improvise on the run.

Carter definitely makes a good point, as Mayfield has already been sacked 16 times this season. While much of that is on his offensive line, some of it is also on him for not getting the ball out quick enough and not throwing the ball away when nothing is available.

Mayfield is coming off of a very impressive rookie campaign in which he set he single-season rookie record with 27 touchdown passes, so expectations were naturally high for the 24-year-old entering 2019.

Thus far, Mayfield has not lived up to them.
