The draft is not a perfect science in any sport because talent does not always translate from level to level. That was a concern for recently selected Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward.

As the fourth overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Ward did not only reach the expectations set for him, but he crushed them. He showed enough for teammate Damarious Randall to compare him to Deion Sanders, per Josh Edwards of 24/7 Sports.

“He's a bit Deion Sandersish. Y'all haven't seen it yet, but I've seen it and I think it will be coming out pretty soon.” -Randall said.

Prime Time is a pretty darn good comp.  Especially for a guy that was a controversial fourth overall selection. After it happened many were unsure that the right decision was made, then the season started, and Ward proved the Browns right.

The first year cornerback was named NFL Rookie of the Week twice during his first five weeks in the league. He caused plenty of turnovers during the year and proved very valuable to the Cleveland defense. Enough for Randall to see flashes of Prime Time.

Throughout the season, he forced a fumble and made three interceptions. He also made 53 tackles and recovered a pair of fumbles.

It was a good season for Ward. What should be even more exciting for Cleveland is that it was the 21-year-old Ohio State product's first season? He will only get better with experience, and if he is truly like Sanders that will be good for defense.
