The Cleveland Browns, after a disappointing 2019 campaign, are primed to go through an important offseason full of change. One of those changes could come at the risk of not making a certain change.

Third-year tight end David Njoku isn't sure if he will be back on the 2020 roster if head coach Freddie Kitchens remains.

That’s a good question,” Njoku told Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “I don’t want to answer that yet. I’m not sure, so no comment.”

When asked if he wants to return if the head coach stays with the Browns, Njoku didn't exactly give a confident answer. Instead, he said:

“I’m really doing everything I’m doing now for my teammates at this point. Obviously it’s been a rollercoaster and at this point in my life with where I’m at, I’m just doing everything for the guys that I play with.”

Njoku's non-commital status towards the Browns if Kitchens is around should come as no surprise. Though a promising young tight end, the 2017 first-round pick hasn't been used as one. In his three games of play (due to an early wrist surgery), he caught just five balls for 41 yards and a touchdown. He has sat the last two games due to a knee injury.

If Njoku wants out, he won't be able to simply find a new home on his own. He has two years left on his rookie contract after the season if the Browns were to accept his fifth-year option. All he could do is ask for a trade and hope Cleveland gives it to him.
