The Cleveland Browns aren't expecting Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward to play Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. The team lists the cornerback as questionable on the injury report with a hamstring ailment.

Although, the Browns are “optimistic” rookie cornerback Greedy Williams, who is also questionable, will play, per Schefter.

Ward's “out” diagnosis is another injury blow to a team dealing with several. Linebacker Christian Kirksey (chest), right tackle Kendall Lamm (knee), tight end David Njoku (wrist/concussion) and free safety Damarious Randall (concussion) are all listed as out.

In addition, strong safety Morgan Burnett (quad), swing tackle Chris Hubbard (foot), linebacker Adarius Taylor (ankle), defensive end Chris Smith (not injury related), wide receiver Rashad Higgins (knee) and safety Sheldrick Redwine (hamstring) are all officially questionable to play.

It's fair to say the Browns will be without a lot of talent on Sunday night when they host their first “Sunday Night Football” matchup since 2008.

On their injuries and backups stepping up, Burnett said recently, via Mary Kay Cabot Cleveland.com:

“You don’t want to rush anything. You just want to follow the protocol of the doctors and trainers. But that’s the thing about this business, you’ve got to be accountable and trust one another and everyone can get the job done because if they couldn’t, they wouldn’t be here. Now the guys have the opportunity for their number to be called and I feel like they’re prepared, they’re going to do their job and guys like myself, we do our part and help out the best way we can.’’

One of T.J. Carrie or Terrance Mitchell will play in place of Ward. If Williams is out, both are expected to start and try to contain the Rams' talented receiving corps.
