After more than a year since the allegations made against Deshaun Watson, the issue still remains unresolved. Now with the Cleveland Browns, his situation is expected to gain some more clarity, at least when it comes to the football side of things.

In a recent report from Cleveland Plain Dealer‘s Mary Kay Cabot, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell spoke out on the Deshaun Watson situation. While he could not commit to a specific timeline on how soon a punishment would be determined or imposed, Goodell asserted that the “end” was near.

“I can’t give you a timeline (for a possible suspension),’' Goodell told reporters in a press conference at the conclusion of the meeting. “We are nearing the end of the investigative period and then it will be handled by our disciplinary officer.”

This statement comes shortly after the Browns QB's lawyer said that by his determination, the NFL would have a decision in the coming months. According to him, the NFL will have the decision down pat before summer's end, but most likely sooner.

The Browns knew what kind of mess they were getting into when they gave up an extremely hefty trade package to acquire Deshaun Watson back in March. What exactly it entails, they'll know soon enough.
