The Cleveland Browns managed to snatch cornerback Greedy Williams with the 46th overall pick in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. LSU head coach Ed Orgeron is still wondering how he fell out of the first round.

Williams was one of the more notable cornerback prospects leading up to the draft until concerns about his physicality affected his stock. Orgeron does not understand the reasoning behind his draft status, via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

“I don’t know that. Everything you do counts, obviously, they watch everything you do on film, everything you do that’s leading up to the draft. I do believe Greedy will be an excellent pick for the Cleveland Browns. He’s a great cover guy. He’s going to have a great career in the NFL,” Orgeron said.

Orgeron added that Cleveland will find out soon enough just how physical Williams can be.

“He’ll be fine. That’s one of the things they’ll address with Greedy in the NFL,” Orgeron said. “He’s very aggressive. He’s a physical kid. He’s very talented. I think he’ll be fine at it.”

Orgeron's comments are certainly understandable. There are many wondering how a projected top-10 pick at one point could fall so drastically. While he was not a booming hitter by conference standards, Williams was still one of the best cornerbacks in the nation. His resume as a two-time first-team All-SEC and consensus All-American should have solidified that notion.

Regardless, Williams seems to have ultimately landed in an ideal situation with Cleveland. There is plenty of young talent on the defensive side of the ball and he would make a welcome addition to the secondary. The fact that the Browns traded up to get him means he could have an opportunity to make an immediate impact and prove the doubters wrong.
