If this isn't pouring salt into previously closed wounds that are now slashed back open, who knows what is. Hue Jackson, the former Cleveland Browns head coach appeared on “The Really Big Show” on ESPN 850 Monday and amidst talking about his book that's set to come out, Jackson pulled back the curtain on that miserable 0-16 season in 2017.

During his talk on ESPN 850, cleveland.com notes that Jackson said he actually received a contract extension during the 2017 season from owner Jimmy Haslem.

“I got a contract extension at 1-23, midway through the season. I wanted to go public with it, but the Browns didn’t.’' – Hue Jackson on The Really Big Show

Hmm. Why wouldn't Jimmy Haslem want to go public about giving a coach an extension during a winless campaign and at a time where said coach was 1-23 through a season and a half? Wouldn't a fan base be overly receptive to that?

Jackson was fired during his third season in 2018, ending his time with the Browns with a 3-36-1 record. Jackson thinks he became the fall guy.

“There’s no doubt I was lied to by ownership and leadership of the team,’' Jackson said. “They were going to be football plus analytics, but it was football vs. analytics.’'

He added, “I think I became the fall guy because that was the narrative…the truth needs to come out…for other minority coaches. They need to know the pitfalls out there. My story has affected some of their futures.’' – Jackson on ESPN 850's The Really Big Show

Jackson has not revealed what the cover of his book will be, but he plans to address a plethora of different issues and topics within it.
