The Cleveland Browns were disappointed to see Gerald McCoy decide to sign with the Carolina Panthers. One person who didn't seem too upset with the decision was Freddie Kitchens.

The Browns head coach said on Wednesday that he “wants people who want to be here” (speaking about Cleveland). McCoy met with the Browns last week but ultimately decided to sign with the Panthers earlier this week.

The Baltimore Ravens also met with the veteran defensive tackle last week. Provided that, the Browns are at least happy to see McCoy sign elsewhere out of their division.

Kitchens was named head coach of the Browns earlier this offseason. He seems to have a complete mindset that if you are on the roster it is because you're committed to the organization. His quote about McCoy could be a slight jab towards Duke Johnson as well.

The Browns running back demanded a trade earlier this offseason when the team signed Kareem Hunt. The backfield was getting crowded and he wanted out but Kitchens has insisted that as long as he is under contract, he'll have a role in Cleveland.

Additionally, the Browns would've become even more dangerous on defense if they could have landed McCoy. This offseason alone, the Browns added Olivier Vernon and Sheldon Richardson on their defensive line.

To put it into perspective, they would've been unstoppable with those guys and McCoy alongside Myles Garrett. Although, Kitchens doesn't seem too bothered with McCoy going elsewhere. The culture in Cleveland is swiftly changing to a winning one under the new regime.
