Even when the Cleveland Browns win, they can't seem to stop generating negative headlines.

Following their victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, quarterback Baker Mayfield criticized the medical staff for the way it has been handling wide receiver Odell Beckham's groin injury.

Mayfield later issued an apology on Twitter, saying he was not trying to throw the medical staff under the bus, but his comments to the media were enough for head coach Freddie Kitchens to have a word with him.

On Monday, Kitchens said that he spoke with Mayfield about his remarks:

“I’ve talked to Baker about it this morning,” Kitchens said, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “Just like he stated last night, he understands we don’t want him addressing other players' injuries — in that manner, especially.”

Kitchens was then asked himself if he thinks Beckham's injury has been handled correctly:

“Odell and our training staff have done a tremendous job of getting Odell to the game each and every week up to this point,” Kitchens said. “For that, they’ve done a good job.”

On top of all of that, a report surfaced on Sunday that Beckham has been telling opponents throughout the season to come and get him via trade because he is not happy in Cleveland.

These are just the latest distractions in what has been a 2019 campaign full of them for the Browns. The problem is, the season has not exactly been full of a lot of winning.

Cleveland is just 6-7 and only has very slim playoff chances in the AFC.
