There is no question that the Cleveland Browns offense has fallen short of the hype so far in the 2019 NFL season. Head coach Freddie Kitchens is hoping that an increase in touches for running back Nick Chubb can help kick things up a notch.

Chubb has played a modest role on offense through the first two games. According to Scott Petrack of The Chronicle-Telegram, Kitchens is hoping to get him more involved heading into Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams.

“I'd love to give Nick (Chubb) more touches.”

Said that could include using him more on 3rd downs.

Chubb's stellar rookie year had generated plenty of hype alongside this offense throughout the offseason. The Browns' decision to trade running back Duke Johnson essentially solidified the notion that he would serve as the workhorse back in Cleveland to start the year. Unfortunately, he has struggled to find his footing due to his lack of involvement after tallying 137 yards and a touchdown on a mere 3.9 yards per carry.

Of course, his minimal production can be attributed to Cleveland's struggles on offense as a whole. The onus had been on Kitchens to establish a high-powered passing game with the emergence of quarterback Baker Mayfield and the arrival of wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. this offseason. As a result, it appears his focus has shied away from establishing a strong run game with Chubb.

Regardless, his comments indicate that very well could change in the coming weeks. A healthy balance on offense could be just what this offense needs to find its rhythm, however, that could prove to be difficult against a Rams' defense that held New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara to 60 yards on 14 touches in Week 2.
