The Cleveland Browns have once again hired a new head coach in Freddie Kitchens. However, this time things are supposed to be different as Cleveland has actually been trending in the right direction as of late — thanks to general manager John Dorsey and the arrival of a franchise quarterback and former No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield.

This time around, the Browns have elected to keep things in-house en route to promoting Kitchens to head coach. Kitchens began the 2018-19 campaign as the Browns' running backs coach before ultimately being promoted to offensive coordinator and then eventually head coach. Paving the way for Kitchens, the Browns infamously fired former head coach Hue Jackson and former offensive coordinator Todd Haley midway through this past season.

As a result, the aforementioned Dorsey has since shed some light on the decision to retain Kitchens in the end.

“I'm looking forward to us getting together as a complete staff for the first time because I know that begins the process of building what we're building and where we're going,” Kitchens recently said, via the team's official website. “At the end of the day I'm still a football coach and the part that's sunk in is I have to make sure everybody's there Monday to get started.”

The Browns finally encountered somewhat of a breakout season under the direction of Kitchens. Although he was only atop the coaching hierarchy for a short period of time, the success the Browns had under his leadership cannot be questioned with the reins now being handed over on a full-time basis.
