The Cleveland Browns are a much-improved team, at least on paper, heading into this season. After their disastrous 0-16 season, head coach Hue Jackson boasted about how the team has upgraded in just about every position group this offseason.

However, Jackson may not last long enough on the job to see this improved Browns team through to bigger and better things. That’s because the Browns boss is currently the betting favorite to be the first head coach fired in 2018.

Jackson has a significant lead over the coach with the next-lowest odds, the Miami Dolphins’ Adam Gase. The Bengals' Marvin Lewis and the Broncos' Vance Joseph are tied for third.

Jackson has had a horrific record in Cleveland since coming over in 2016. He’s a mere 1-31 in those two seasons. Although, he did take over at a time when the Browns were purposely trying to be bad in order to rebuild through the draft.

But with the roster now rebuilt and upgraded to be much more competitive, Jackson has no more excuses if he continues to get poor results. GM John Dorsey was not the one who hired Jackson, and he would have little hesitation to bring his own head coach in if the Browns struggle once again.

Despite the added talent on the team, it’s certainly not a given that the Browns improve immediately. All their new pieces could take time to gel and play as a team. That scenario would be one Jackson better avoid, as a slow start could ultimately force Dorsey’s hand to make a change at head coach.
