Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield spent the first few sessions of organized team activities running with the third-team offense. That changed when he was bumped up to the second-team in front of quarterback Drew Stanton.

The move could be an indication of Mayfield's potential rise to the starting job. However, head coach he Jackson insists that it is not much to look into, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer:

“I just mixed it up,” Browns coach Hue Jackson said. “There’s nothing behind that. I just want to keep tinkering with that a little bit. I made a decision this week with the staff to make him second and get him some reps there and that’s just going to go as we go. There’s nothing to it, nobody should read into it. It’s an opportunity to go out there a little bit sooner than he has, that’s all.”

Jackson's comments should come as no surprise. He made it clear from day one that quarterback Tyrod Taylor would be the starter for the 2018 NFL season. Taylor has done more than enough in this league to establish himself as such this offseason.

However, there are always high expectations that come with being the No. 1 overall pick. Part of which include winning the starting job at some point in their rookie campaign. Mayfield has made it clear that he intends to do as early as possible. For now, he must make his bones on the second-team before starting over Taylor becomes a real possibility.
