With the 2018 NFL Draft just over a week away, there have been growing rumors that the Cleveland Browns may take Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen with the first overall pick. However, head coach Hue Jackson pumped the brakes on such speculation.

The Browns have done their due diligence on nearly every player that is projected to go in the top-five of this year's draft. According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, it seems Jackson is still in the dark when it comes to general manager John Dorsey's plans for the top pick:

“If there was a consensus John had come to, he would’ve told me,” Jackson said. “That’s not the case. … When John Dorsey goes dark, he goes dark.”

Jackson's comments should come as no surprise. There have been a number of scenarios that have been pitched for Cleveland this offseason. The most recent even had them taking two quarterbacks with the first and fourth overall picks in the draft. Regardless of how outlandish some of these proposals are, it is indicative of the possibilities the Browns have with such assets.

Although USC quarterback Sam Darnold has long been considered the consensus top pick, Allen's stock has skyrocketed after an impressive performance at the Combine and his Pro Day. Meanwhile, Cleveland has sung the praises of Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield as well. Given the dynamic of this year's quarterback class features quantity over quality, the choice between who gets taken first among them by Dorsey still seems to be up in the air.
