It has been a few weeks since the Cleveland Browns made the decision to make the quarterback change from Tyrod Taylor to rookie Baker Mayfield.

This has seemingly brought forth the question of Taylor status with the Browns for the rest of the season as he's set to hit the free agent market next offseason. When asked about any possibility of trading Taylor, head coach Hue Jackson has quickly shot down any notion that could be the case prior to trade deadline later this month, according to Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland.

The Browns clearly have no intention of moving from Taylor at any point this season as he provides them stability at the position behind Mayfield. Beyond that, his presence could provide the Oklahoma product a much-needed veteran guidance that could show him the ins and outs of what goes into being a starting quarterback in the NFL beyond just his play on the field. This will be crucial in helping him along in his maturation process as he works through his rookie campaign that will have its peaks and valleys along the way.

Mayfield is coming off a rough outing against the Los Angeles Chargers where he had many issues finding any consistency on the field as he completed just 22-of-46 passes for 238 yards while throwing a pair of interceptions. Beyond that, Mayfield has shown flashes of great potential with his throwing ability, accuracy, and poise in the pocket. It has been a matter of him getting the playing time in order to improve on the field while finding out what will work best for him to find success.

In the meantime, Taylor will continue to serve as the backup and should provide any extra tutelage to the rookie that could help him along the way.
