Former Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson came out earlier this week and insinuated that he was paid to lose after Brian Flores accused the Miami Dolphins of offering him a substantial amount of money to tank. Now, Jackson has backtracked on his comments.

The ex-NFL HC appeared on CNN on Friday night with Anderson Cooper and explained how his situation was similar, but not the same at Flores:

“No, I was never offered money by the Browns like Brian (Flores) had mentioned,” Jackson said. “I think this is a totally different situation but has some similarities.”

“When you talk about incentivizing a four-year plan that led to the team not being able to play as well, that people benefited off of that — that's different. But at the same time, it has some of the same similarities to it,”

Jackson got the drama going when he replied to a tweet about the Flores lawsuit, saying that was offered “a good number” to lose games. That immediately sparked outrage, especially when it came to Browns owner Jimmy Haslam.

This is what he had to say to a local outlet:

“Hue Jackson has never ever accepted any responsibility for our record during that time period,” Haslam told the local outlet. “He's been masterful at pointing fingers but has never accepted any blame.”

Jackson went 3-36-1 during his time in Cleveland and was fired after the 2018 season.
