Earlier this NFL offseason, the New York Giants had explored the trade market for star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. due to the uncertainty within the franchise if there was a desire to make him a long-term piece of the puzzle.

However, things have shifted with the Giants engaging in extension talks with Beckham Jr. over the last several days. According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, Landry has been pushing the franchise to possibly make a trade for his close friend and fellow Pro Bowler.

The two share a close bond that dates back to their time together at LSU that has only grown stronger in the NFL over the last few years. Although Beckham Jr. looks to be off the market with the Giants working towards a long-term extension, the possibility is certainly there if the contract talks with New York were to go slow in any manner with Browns potentially being in the forefront as a landing spot.

However, the ship appears to have sailed as it is hard to imagine that the Giants will allow Beckham Jr. to slip away from agreeing to a long-term deal that is expected to make him the highest-paid wide receiver in the league. There is a strong desire from the franchise to keep him on board given what he brings to the table in the passing game as one of the top players in the NFL at his position.

This chatter from Landry just speaks to his strong connection with Beckham Jr. that also shows that he is all in toward helping make the Browns better in any capacity.
