Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield recently made headlines with what many assumed was a shot at running back Duke Johnson. Wide receiver Jarvis Landry is now doing what he can dispel any notion of bad blood.

Mayfield's comments had reportedly led to some friction in the locker room. According to Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan, Jarvis Landry insists that it is a non-issue:

“I don’t think it will be difficult at all,” Landry said. “I say to you that it’s a non-issue. It’s not one we’re feeling any particular way about. It’s blown up from you guys’ end more than it really is.”

While it is encouraging to see that Landry is downplaying the whole situation, Johnson's track record with the team this offseason suggests otherwise. The Browns made an effort to fortify their backfield this offseason with the addition of former Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt. Duke Johnson made it clear that he would like to play elsewhere in the 2019 NFL season; however, the front office has not given any indication of obliging his wishes.

No team has generated more hype than Cleveland has this offseason with its recent influx of star power. The last thing the Browns need is any type of negativity to start developing in the locker room. This could be why Landry is trying to downplay this crossfire before things start to get out of hand. If the Browns were to struggle next season, it is safe to say that team chemistry would be among the problems brought to the forefront.
