Freddie Kitchens has sure been moving up the latter over the past couple of months.

After going from Cleveland Browns running backs coach to offensive coordinator in late October, Kitchens was then promoted to head coach earlier this month.

Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry is very happy that the Browns decided to go with Kitchens as their head coach, as the team is already used to him:

“Yeah, man, it's a good thing,” Landry said after Thursday's Pro Bowl practice, according to Herbie Teope of NFL.com. “All the things that he implemented and brought to the team and the offense when he stepped in, and now he has the chance to be over the entire team. It will be exciting to see the changes, the new things, but most of all being around the guys again.”
Landry praised the job Kitchens did as offensive coordinator:
“He's real critical of what we do and how we match up against our opponent,” Landry said. “A couple of games, we could've done better jobs. But for the most part, overall, we were one of the top teams in the red zone when he came in that he brought to us, helped us evolve to.”
The Browns went 7-8-1 this season, marking their best finish since winning 10 games all the way back in 2007. Cleveland's season turned around after firing head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley in late October, paving the way for Gregg Williams (who is now the New York Jets' defensive coordinator) and Kitchens to lead the Browns to a 5-3 record over their final eight games.
