Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey made it clear they are going to do an intense coaching search and look everywhere for the right person, and that individual could very well be a female.

Dorsey was asked on Wednesday if age would be a factor in looking for the next coach and Dorsey said he doesn't care about that, he just wants the best possible candidate.

“I just want the best possible head coach to move this thing forward regardless of age,” Dorsey said via Pro Football Talk. “It could be a woman, too. Do not look at me like that. I am serious. Who knows? We will look at everything is what I am trying to tell you all.”

Dorsey has said he is looking for a candidate who has high character, who can lead young men and someone who has high football knowledge. Those three characteristics sound like what most general managers want when they are looking for a head coach, but it's interesting that Dorsey acknowledged that a woman could be a head coach. There has been talk before about woman being assistant coaches in the NFL but not often has there been talk about women being the leader of a team.

The NFL needs more woman to get involved in the game, so maybe this is just the type of comment that will jump-start that.

The Browns need a coach that can help take Baker Mayfield to that next step because that is what the next few years of this franchise hinges on.
